What DockCount does
A receiving log that checks each delivery against the order it was supposed to be, and flags what is short, damaged or unexpected.
If you sign for deliveries, you already know the problem. The order said fifty. The pallet has forty-five on it, one carton is crushed, and the driver is waiting. Whatever you write on the clipboard now is what your company will believe in three weeks when the invoice arrives.
DockCount is where you write it down instead. You record what actually arrived, it lines that up against the order already on file, and anything that does not match is flagged before the driver pulls away.
Put another way
You order a dozen eggs. Six arrive, one of them cracked. Writing “eggs” on a clipboard records none of that. DockCount records twelve ordered, six arrived, one cracked, and who signed for it.
What it is not
It is not stock control. It does not know what is on your shelves, it will not reorder for you, and it does not run a warehouse. It covers the gap between a purchase order and the pallet in front of you, then hands the result to whatever you already use for stock.
It is also not a parcel tracker. It is built for goods arriving against orders at a loading bay, not for post arriving at a reception desk.
Who ends up using it
- The person at the bay, on a phone, with a pallet in front of them and a driver waiting.
- Whoever does purchasing, who needs to know a shortfall happened without being told verbally.
- Whoever pays invoices, who needs to know an invoice does not match what arrived.

The shape of a day
- 1Orders go in, typed or imported from a spreadsheet.
- 2A delivery arrives and somebody records it against its order.
- 3Anything short, over or damaged gets flagged and photographed.
- 4They confirm, and the record is permanent and searchable.
